New Mainland China Dramas 2016

PLEASE RECOMMEND SOME 2016 MAINLAND CHINA DRAMAS FOR ME
Here is a list of 2016 Mainland Chinese dramas I have watched.

太子妃升职记

Episodes: 35
Synopsis:
This is a low budget drama starring relatively new and unpopular actors. Despite this fact, it has become an instant hit due to its unique plot and funny acting. Zhang Peng is a playboy in his 20s-30s from the 21st century. He time travels back in time but is now inside of Zhang Peng Peng's, the Crown Princess, body. Being a guy from the present, he uses a lot of slang and likes to flirt with other girls. The old Crown Princess isn't loved by the Crown Prince who loves the wife of his uncle. He tries to kill the Crown Princess. The Crown Princess forms an alliance with the 9th prince, who likes the Crown Princess; Yang Yan, the son of a general; and Zhao, the Crown Prince's uncle; to kill the Crown Prince. However, as Zhang Peng is in Zhang Peng Peng's body for a longer period of time, Zhang Peng sees himself falling for the Crown Prince.

This whole "a guy in a girl's body" is unique for Chinse historical time-travel dramas. Zhang Peng in Zhang Peng Peng's body will talk in modern day slang and might throw in a few words of Korean and English. He uses his now female body to get close to other girls or even shower with them so he can peek at their figures and touch them.

The Imperial Doctress

The Imperial Doctress

Episodes: 50
Synopsis:
Yun Xian (Liu Shi Shi) secretly learns about traditional Chinese medicines and ways to treat illnesses at a time where females were shamed for practicing medicine. Against her father's will, she continues to help others. She meets two guys, Emperor Zhu Qi Zhen (Wallace Huo) and his younger brother, Zhu Qi Yu (Huang Xuan), who both fall for her. When the Emperor and Yun Xian are captured by enemies and Qi Yu is forced to replace him as the new emperor. How will they react when the two return after the near-death situation they just experienced together only to see that Qi Yu is now hungry for power and Yun Xian?

My favorite character is the Emperor. He acts mean and calls Yun Xian names and annoys her, but he knows when to apologize. He also isn't good at admitting that he is sorry or trying to help, like realistic guy.

Fifteen Years of Waiting for Migratory Birds
十五年等待候鸟

Episodes: 20
Synopsis:
Li Li (Sun Yi) is a smart, hardworking class monitor and a good daughter, but her looks are very average. On the other hand, Pei Shang Xuan (Zhang Ruo Yan) is the star player and captain of the soccer team. He is handsome and is treated like an idol at school. School and grades are not his focus, soccer is. Li Li and Shang Xuan clash right from the start. She sees him as a lazy person who uses sports as a reason to avoid responsibilities; while, he sees her as a try-hard and a goody-two-shoes who is always up in his business. Over time, they see each other's positive qualities and become best friends. Shang Xuan treats her as any other friend, but she develops a crush for him. Before Li Li can confess her love, Shang Xuan starts to date Li Li's pretty and rich cousin. Li Li hides her love for Shang Xuan because she is insecure about her looks and does not want to ruin their friendship. For fifteen years, she has a crush on him and remains by his side through tough and happy times. Will they just end up friends forever? Will Shang Xuan ever notice Li Li's love for him and love her back?
Review:
This drama is so cliche but I just can't get enough of it. I have watched it like 5 times now. I feel like Li Li's crush on Pei Shang Xuan and her feeling like she is not good enough for him and her fear that confessing will ruin a friendship are what make me love this drama. Their relationship is very realistic. None of the characters are perfect. Their flaws are relatable and we can all see bits of ourselves in these characters. There is a second love line in this drama. Do beware though because this drama gets a bit sad and serious as the plot develops.
This is the second youth drama of Hunan TV, the first being Whirlwind Girl.

I am sorry that the following drama description turned out like this. I can't seem to change it.
Go! Goal! Fighting!

Episodes: 31
Synopsis:
Mu Qi (Hu Ge) owns a small, failing soccer training school. When his soccer training school is on the verge of closing down due to the sudden increase in rent, he immediately accepts a job offer from a high school with a below average soccer team. The team is not very good but all the players are passionate and have a good relationship with each other. When Mu Qi becomes the coach, he changes everything. To help them win, he uses weird tactics and formations and recruits new members. He even gathers the prettiest girls at school and the members' crushes to be the team's cheerleaders, which he calls the Hormone Tactic. He helps this team win and grow with the help of an intern, Pei Duo (Maggie Jiang).
Comments:
Despite the fact that the male lead is A-list actor, Hu Ge, the female lead is a rising star, and the second male lead is a supermodel, the rest of the cast is new. Visual wise, they aren't like Whirlwind Girl's cast, an awesome youth drama about Taekwondo, where the boys are all super good looking, but this only makes this drama more relatable; it's just a group of regular high schoolers with a passion for soccer has crushes.
Here is a synopsis of Whirlwind Girl, which is also a youth sports drama:

Yes! Mr Fashion

Episodes: 28
Synopsis:
Shang Bo Ran (Chen Xue Dong) is the rich heir of the Feng Shang Group and grew up overseas. After receiving news of his father's death, he returns to China and decides to work at Feng Shang Group, where he owns 30% of the company. He enters the company under the alias, Zhen Guan Jun, to learn more about his late father's will and to get to know more about his company. There he meets a bubbly, optimistic, environment-loving girl, Lu Xiao Kui (Ouyang Na Na). Later, they become neighbors. Two totally different people, with one being smart and arrogant taste, and the other being kind and naive, how could the two possibly get along?
Review:
I kind of have no idea what I am watching half of the time. I personally really like the actors Chen Xue Dong and Ouyang Na Na, especially Na Na because she is so cute, but the acting in the drama is a no for me. Chen Xue Dong is a robot while Na Na is wayyyy too energetic and gets pretty annoying.

Who Sleeps My Bro

Episodes: 26
Synopsis:
This semi-wild coming of age drama talks about love, friendship, hormones, rivalries, and being young, in a pretty realistic way. It doesn't shy away from many topics, so this isn't appropriate for all ages.
Lin Xiang Yu (Chen Xiao), Guan Chao (Liu Wayne), Xie Xun (Lei Yin), and James (Calvin Du), or Li Da Peng, all live in Room 330 in the boys dormitory of Hu Du University in Shanghai. Lin Xiang Yu is a handsome, charismatic boy who has lots of great ideas and the leadership to make it all happen. Guan Chao is a "Xue Ba," or a super smart student. He also happens to be one of the two virgins in their entire dormitory. Xie Xun is from Chongqing and talks in a thick accent. He is manly yet loving towards his long time girlfriend. He also runs a "shop" in the dormitory. James is a transfer student from Canada, whose family owns a famous underwear brand. Jennifer Baby is a wild girl who grew up with him and has the biggest, most annoying crush on him. Together the four boys of 330 try to navigate through the ups and downs of university and help fulfill each other's wishes. Xie Xun has to make money to support him, his family, his girlfriend, and her family. James wants to get rid of Jennifer Baby. They want to help Guan Chao get Xia Xing Chen, the prettiest girl at school, so he can finally stop being a virgin. They want to help Xiang Yu find his "goddess," who he only saw for a second at a bookstore. They do that by hosting Face Party, where students will gather to meet people face to face. Stopping them from succeeding is a rich, snobby freshman with blonde hair called Song Zi Hao, who uses his money and father's connections to get his way and bullies the people at school. The only people who could stop him are the boys from 330.
Review:
As I mentioned before, this drama is pretty open about talking about hormones and even sex. Such topics are usually frowned upon when discussed publicly, especially with the older generation. The topics make this drama real though. The boys are real people who have certain desires.
I love the friendship in 330. They do whatever they can to help each other and they are willing to make sacrifices for each other. They are extremely supportive and always have each other's backs. This drama shows you that good friends are extremely precious and you need to treasure them.
There is also a movie.

忍冬艳蔷薇

Episodes: 46
Synopsis:
Han Feng tries to bring his illegitimate daughter back to the household. He sends his worker, Fang Chen to bring his daughter back. Fang Chen switches his own daughter, Qiang Wei, with Han Feng's daughter, Ren Dong. Fang Chen leaves Ren Dong with the mother of his own child. While Qiang Wei, or Fang Chen's real daughter, is brought up like a princess, Ren Dong works hard to make money to support her family. Ren Dong has a love for Chinese herbal medicine and being a doctor, while Qiang Wei despises it, despite Han Feng being a famous doctor. The drama talks about Ren Dong's journey to become a doctor and Fang Chen manipulating Qiang Wei to take all of Han Feng's assets.

Just One Smile Is Very Alluring

Episodes: 30
Synopsis:
Bei Wei Wei (game username: Lu Wei Wei Wei) (Zheng Shuang) was voted the second prettiest girl in school and is the prettiest girl in the Computer Science Department at her university. Besides being both pretty and smart, she is also the only female player of Qian Nv You Hun, an online MOBA game, on the list of top 10 players. In this game, you can marry people and become a couple in order to complete missions. After her "ex-husband" dumps her for the prettiest player in the game, she meets Yi Xiao Nai He, the best player of the game, who asks her to become his wife. They become a couple and she slowly falls for him in the game, but little does she know that he is actually Xiao Nai (Yang Yang), the most popular guy at school and her role model.
Review:
I think the plot is unique. Parts of the drama takes place in the game so there is cosplaying. Aside from that, I am watching this for Yang Yang and his character, Xiao Nai. Yang Yang is extremely handsome in this drama. Xiao Nai is the perfect human being and a perfect boyfriend. He encourages Wei Wei to pursue what she likes, is protective, is romantic, is assuring, and did I mention that he's hella hot? This is just a very sweet and light drama with a lot of eye candy. The acting is a bit emotionless and robotic. Many people complain that Zheng Shuang is a horrible kisser and just stands there like a rock, which I agree with.
There is a movie version starring Angelababy and Jing Boran. The movie is totally different from the drama because the characters are portrayed very differently. In the drama, Wei Wei is portrayed as a quiet and a bit shy, while in the movie, Wei Wei is a little more tomboyish and cool. In the drama, Xiao Nai is so much more perfect than in the movie. I think the drama is better because the movie was very rushed, but nonetheless, the movie had its romantic scenes.

To Be A Better Man

Episodes: 42
Synopsis:
Lu Yuan (Sun Hong Lei) was a chef at a Michelin restaurant in America until he lost his sense of taste. After a car accident takes away his friend Da Peng, Lu Yuan returned to China with Da Peng's ashes and Da Peng's daughter (Guan Xiao Tong). However, he runs into ex-girlfriend, Gan Jing (Che Xiao), their old classmate, Jiang Hao Kun (David Wang), who are now dating. He also meets Hao Kun's younger sister, Jiang Lai (Maggie Jiang), who is a beautiful woman who is a mess after the death of her boyfriend.
Comments:
This drama uses flashbacks to slowly reveal his past, which was so confusing for me. Lu Yuan is a very funny character. This drama had many positive reviews and was popular during its broadcast.

Super Star Academy
Image result for super star academy drama

Episodes: 30
Synopsis:
This drama stars the newly formed boy band, X-Nine. This drama takes place in a parallel world where people are differentiated based on their horoscope sign. Cheng Zhi Er, a normal girl, was suddenly recruited for enrollment at Super Star Academy, an academy full of rich students with magical powers, despite not having any special powers. There she meets all sorts of people, from narcissistic rock band members to a couple with too much PDA. She also meets Fang Tian Zhe, a rich, handsome guy at her school who is the heir to Fang Corporation and is a Leo, but no one has ever seen his super powers. She also meets Wan Shi Cun, one of the most normal guys at her school and also happens to be a Leo. Cheng Zhi Er starts to learn of the secrets of the Fang Corporation and her own mysterious past.
Review:
This drama has a lot of eye candy and the members' acting is not that bad. The drama is pretty low budget, but what bothers me most is when they try to be funny when it is not funny at all. The plot was super confusing at first. Despite all that, you are introduced to a new boy band and there is a lot of eye candy. If you are looking for something super light, this is for you.

The Princess Wei Young

Review:
I saw the trailer for this drama and at first I wasn't really captivated, but when it came out, I was bored out of my life so I gave it a try. OMG, THIS DRAMA IS SO GOOD. I feel like for the past few weeks, I woke up each morning just to watch the two episodes that come out each day. In all honesty, this drama is nothing special. I have seen better plotlines, dialogue, and costumes; however,  this drama has all the archetypes a person would want in a drama. You got our villans, the evil but pitiful second female lead, cunning people, strong female character, loving male lead, and much more. I like this drama so much because I have a weak spot for dramas with guys fighting over a girl. Vanness Wu is the second male lead and I absolutely loved him in Autumn's Concerto. He plays a cunning prince who wants to become the next king. Also, Tang Yan and Luo Jin are now dating in real life so expect lots of chemistry.

The Ladder of Love

Episodes: 69
Zhang Hao Tian, Song Zi Yang, and Lu Feng are as close as brothers. Zhang Hao Tian's (Ray Cheung) job is to help set up events. His father used to be a lawyer until a certain event ended his law career. Song Zi Yang (霍政谚) is the heir to Song Corporation and is in love with a girl named Chen Qiu Yan (Zhang Meng). Lu Feng (Zhou Ting Wei) and his younger brothers are orphans who were cared for by Hao Tian's father. After a certain event causes Hao Tian to save Song Tian Cheng, Zi Yang's father, he gets a job at Song Corporation and drama becomes a daily. From romance to revenge, the three close friends face many conflicts and start to become distant. Will this be the end of their friendship?
Review:
This drama has so much going on and every one; literally everyone, is related in one way or another. There are so many annoying people in this drama. For example, Zi Yang's mom is a real piece of work. She spoils her kids and blames everyone else for her kids' mistakes. This drama keeps introducing more and more characters which makes it draggy. It gets super messy due to the introduction of new characters and conflicts; however, if you like crazy and chaotic dramas, this is definitely for you.
