My Favorite Mainland China Actors and Actresses

Here is a list of my favorite Mainland Chinese Actors and Actresses. I didn't include any Taiwanese actors and actresses who are currently based in Mainland China.

Actors

Kimi Qiao Ren Liang

He is a singer and an actor. Nowadays he almost always has guyliner on and it looks fabulous on him. I also love his personality. He is very humorous and romantic. He mainly acts as the second male lead or a supporting character. On September 16, 2016, he was found dead in his apartment. He committed suicide due to depression and heaven has gained another angel. Please continue to support him by watching his dramas, movies, and variety show appearances, and please also listen to his music. Please also watch him on Happy Camp because he is hilarious.

Yang Yang


His first production is Hong Luo Meng, or The Dream of the Red Mansions. Hong Luo Meng is one of the most expensive Chinese television series ever produced and is also a live action of one of China's Four Great Classical Novels. I liked him before he got popular because of Hua Kai Ban Xia. He then exploded in popularity after Whirlwind Girl and later, Love O2O. Both dramas are very light and fulllllll of eye candy. I think Yang Yang is super handsome and is currently becoming a top star in China, so I am extremely proud.

Luo Jin


Luo Jin is my new discovery. I can't believe he isn't more famous. He has superb acting skills but has not been in enough popular television dramas to show off his talent. He was well loved by the audience after his characters in Schemes of a Beauty and Three Kingdoms, which established him as an actor with solid acting skills. Despite these two successful dramas,  I feel like he isn't talk about often and is super underrated. I first learned about him through Princess of Wei Young. When I was watching Princess of Wei Young, I literally woke up every morning to watch the new episodes. I fell in love with his character and his acting. His eyes are very expressive. Then I learned that he and Tang Yan, the female lead, were dating after cooperating in 4 drama productions. I was so happy for the two. This made me decide to watch Diamond Lovers. This drama isn't the best drama and it got super draggy and I ultimately dropped it. However, this drama introduced me to two new actors and actresses, Luo Jin and Dilmurat Dilraba. The two outshine the leads. I learned that Luo Jin can take on any character, from a faithful lover to a funny best friend. Please support Luo Jin and Tang Yan.

Zhang Bin Bin


If you asked me who has the prettiest eyes, hands down, I would say Zhang Bin Bin does. His eyes are so large and beautiful. His eyes are so expressive. I first learned of him in V Love but then never saw him again until 2016 in the popular drama Love O2O where he played one of his most well-known characters, KO, a hacker. Many viewers praised his handsome visuals. Then he plays the cheeky second male lead in Pretty Li Hui Zhen. I fell in love with him and his character. He is one of the best second male leads I have ever seen.
Dramas: V Love, Chronicle of Life, Love O2O, Pretty Li Hui Zhen, Eternal Love, etc.

Hu Ge


He is one of China's most popular and highest paid actors. He kick-started his career by playing one of his most famous roles to date, Li Xiao Yao, the main character of the popular drama, Chinese Paladin. He continued to act in mainly wuxia dramas like The Little Fairy, The Legend of the Condor Heroes, Chinese Paladin 3, and The Myth, which were all very popular during its run. After 2010, he started to act in a couple modern Chinese dramas like Unbeatable and Modern People. In 2012, he acted in Xuan Yuan Sword: Scar of Sky, which had very high ratings during its run. He continued to star in many popular dramas like Sound of the Desert. However, the major turning point in his career was in 2015. He started off the year with The Disguiser, which was critically acclaimed for its great plot and acting. Then he played his most critically acclaimed role, Mei Chang Su, from the drama, Nirvana In Fire. Nirvana In Fire was a commercial and critical success. He won two of the most prestigious television awards in China for his role in Nirvana in Fire. He won Best Actor at the 22nd Shanghai Television Festival and the Viewers' Choice award and the Most Popular Actor award at the 28th China TV Golden Eagle Award. However his life isn't as perfect as it seems. In 2006, he got into a severe car accident. His assistant died during the crash and he barely managed to survive. He spent a year undergoing countless surgeries to repair his face. He had over a hundred sutures on his face and neck and almost lost sight in his right eye. He had to undergo skin graft surgery, nasal correction, and scar repair. Until this day, his face is still scarred. One of the main reasons he chose to act as Mei Chang Su was because the character is very similar to him. They both underwent a tragic event that led to a drastic change in their appearance. Hu Ge was very depressed at the time because as an actor, looks are very important. However, through countless productions, especially Nirvana In Fire, he has proven that he is an actor with solid acting skills and determination. As of 2017, he will be taking a 2 year hiatus to return to school for a higher education. Until then, we, the fans, will wait patiently for his return.

Actresses

Dilmurat Dilraba


She is known for her cute, pretty looks. Though she may not look like it but she is Chinese. She is of the ethnic group, the Uyghurs. So many beautiful actors and actresses are of this ethnic group, like Gong Li Ya and Gu Li Na Zha. She first got popular through Swords of Legends and V Love. Then she acted in the drama Diamond Lovers, which skyrocketed her popularity. Her character is Gao Wen, an arrogant actress who lost all of her fame over night. This is my favorite character of hers because she was so cute and funny. She has really solid acting skills and she has only debuted for three years. She then acts in Hot Girl and Pretty Li Hui Zhen, which were both very popular during its run.

Yang Rong


I feel like she is such an underrated actress and it wasn't until 2014, which is 13 years after her debut, did she get to play the main lead. Most people know her from the Palace series. Then she become more popular through Swordsman and The Legend of Lu Zhen, which were both very popular dramas during its run. Finally in 2014, for the first time, she got to play the lead actress in Love For Three Lifetimes. Her character in this drama is my all time favorite of hers. I believe that she is a great actress and her voice is extremely soothing. Then she starred in The Lady and the Liar, where she plays the liar. Her portrayal of her character was very good and I really enjoyed the drama.

Honorable Mention:
Sun Li


She plays the leading character in one of my all time favorite dramas, Empress In the Palace. Her acting was flawless and diverse. Her eyes have this fierceness that is hard to imitate. I also really like her in the Taiwanese drama, Emerald on the Roof.
